National Short Term Outlook
Mainly tranquil weather pattern for most of the nation. A relatively quiet weather pattern will be in place across the majority of the continental U.S. through midweek, with pleasant autumnal weather for much of the eastern half of the U.S. and little in the way of rainfall from the Plains to the Mid-Atlantic region. Showers are likely across portions of the Northeast as a cold front crosses the region on Wednesday, but rainfall amounts are expected to be under an inch. It will also continue to be dry for the western U.S. and western High Plains, except above normal temperatures are expected to continue as the upper level ridge continues to hold strong over the region. Widespread highs in the 80s and 90s are expected. In addition, there are air quality alerts in effect for portions of California, Oregon, and Colorado owing to smoke from the ongoing wildfires.
Hurricane Delta intensifying over western Caribbean and headed towards the Gulf of Mexico. For the Gulf Coast region, the next couple of days will be relatively uneventful compared to what is expected beyond the end of this forecast period when Hurricane Delta threatens portions of the coast. Scattered showers and a few storms will be possible each day across Florida and the central Gulf Coast region that is well in advance of the hurricane, with conditions deteriorating by the end of the week. The National Hurricane Center has additional information on this, and residents in the cone of uncertainty should consider making early preparations. Hamrick

Strack & VanTil Team offer a helping hand at the Habitat for Humanity Lake Station Build Site
Sunset Christian Church offers a hand at the Habitat for Humanity NWI Lake Station Build Site

Gary, Indiana October 1, 2020 โ Majestic Star Casino partnered with Habitat for Humanity of NW Indiana to build walls for a new home being built for the Best Family in Gary, Indiana. Majestic Star Casino provided a volunteer group of 24 to build all 32 interior and exterior walls as well as funds to cover materials. All the walls were built on the old casino property in Buffington Harbor.
โThe work done by Habitat makes such a difference in the lives of those they serve, and Iโm pleased to play a small part in that. Through our Spectacle ALL-IN program, the team at Majestic Star Casino is excited to pitch in and help Shakira Bestโs family become homeowners at the “Field of Dreams” project in Gary. Itโs a humbling and fulfilling experience for all of us,โ stated Rich Zeigler, Vice President of Development for Spectacle Entertainment and a Habitat for Humanity of Northwest Indiana board member.
Shakira Best and her family will move into a neighborhood called โField of Dreamsโ. This beautiful, two block section of Gary is nearly entirely comprised of Habitat homes. The first Habitat home in the โField of Dreamsโ broke ground in 2004.

Indiana Moves to Stage 5 of Back on Track Indiana (Covid-19 Response)
Under this adjusted Stage 5, face coverings remain required.
Organizers of events with more than 500 people in attendance will be required to submit a plan to the local health department that outlines measures to mitigate COVID-19.
Restaurants and bars that serve food may open at full capacity as long as six feet of space to maintain social distancing is in place. Customers must be seated at a table or counter.
Indoor and outdoor venues may open at full capacity with social distancing measures in place. Senior centers and congregate meal sites may open with precautions. Personal services and gyms and fitness centers may resume normal operations with social distancing safeguards and cleaning protocols in place.
Details and guidance are updated at BackOnTrack.in.gov and in Executive Order 20-43.
I also signed an executive order extending the public health emergency an additional 30 days.
The executive orders can be found here: https://www.in.gov/gov/2384.htm
