About the Food Bank of Northwest Indiana
The Food Bank of Northwest Indiana is the largest hunger relief organization in Northwest Indiana, and the only food bank serving Lake and Porter counties. Since 1982, the Food Bank has provided countless nutritious meals to hungry neighbors across the Region, and in 2017 distributed a record-breaking 4.5 million meals into the community. Through its network of 100+ partner agencies, mobile food distributions, and direct service programs for seniors, adults, youth and families, the Food Bank gives hope and hunger relief to nearly 25,000 people each month. In 2018 the Food Bank of Northwest Indiana moved into its new home—a larger, more efficient food distribution facility in Merrillville. This move marked a new chapter for the organization and was a turning point in its ability to address hunger and impact the Northwest Indiana community in meaningful and sustainable ways. The Food Bank of Northwest Indiana is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization and a member of Feeding America, the nation’s largest domestic hunger-relief organization and a powerful and efficient network of 200 food banks across the country. As food insecurity rates hold steady at the highest levels ever, the Feeding America network of food banks has risen to meet the need. Statement from Bill and Kali : “The Food Bank of Northwest Indiana has been working on the front lines to feed people in Lake and Porter County Indiana who have fallen on hard times. They have always carried out their mission with unparalleled commitment and dedication. However, the COVID 19 pandemic has changed their world. Due to many unemployed and businesses being financially challenged, their intake of donations has been greatly reduced. Yet due to high unemployment during the pandemic, the population that they serve has more than doubled. There is no greater need for us to help them than the present. We are honored to host the 2020 Soiree’ Virtually. We simply “Love What They Do”! Please help us help The Food Bank of Northwest Indiana. Tune in on July 19, 2020 at 1 pm on our Facebook page The Bill and Kali Show for live coverage.”
