Warm, dry and breezy conditions today will result in an elevated fire danger. Breezy conditions will continue through Monday, with rain expected area-wide Monday into Monday night.

Breezy and warm today with wind gusts of 20-30 mph and high temperatures near 60°! There will be some dry hours Monday morning before rain arrives by the afternoon. This rain tapers off through the day Tuesday. Another round of showers, perhaps with some snowflakes mixed in, looms for Wednesday.

Awesome weather is still expected today with many locations rising to around 60. This will be the warmest day since last October. There is a chance for some light rain late tonight. Rain will then spread across the area Monday morning and continue much of the afternoon, ending Monday evening. After a dry and cooler day on Tuesday, a mix of rain and snow is looking more likely late Tuesday night into Wednesday morning.

  • Record high temperatures again likely for portions of the Plains Sunday
  • Heavy snow for parts of Northern Maine on Monday
  • Rain/freezing rain possible over parts of the Upper Great lakes

Upper-level energy over the West Coast will move inland and weaken. The energy will aid in producing higher elevations snow over parts of the Northern Rockies into parts of Central Rockies that will that will continue as additional upper-level energy moves into the area that will beginning to wane overnight Monday into Tuesday morning. Light rain develops over parts of the Southern Rockies on Sunday expanding into the Southern Plains by Sunday evening. On Sunday, moisture over the Western Gulf of Mexico will race northward to the Upper Great Lakes were the moisture will slowly increase over the Plains and Mississippi Valley by Monday. Light rain will develop over parts of the Southern Rockies on Sunday and move into parts of the Central/Southern Plains by Sunday evening. The WPC has issued a marginal risk of excessive rainfall over parts of the Southern Rockies into parts of the Southern Plains from Sunday morning into Monday morning. The marginal risk means there will be isolated areas of flash flooding. The moisture continues to increase over parts of the Plains and Mississippi Valley on Monday. The rain moves into parts of the Central Plains overnight Sunday and into the Middle Mississippi Valley and over the Upper Great Lakes on Monday. As the moisture moves into the Upper Great Lakes rain/freezing rain will develop over parts of the area near the rain/snow line. The rain moves into the Lower Great Lakes to parts of the Tennessee/Lower Mississippi Valleys by Tuesday morning. The moisture will make its way to New England overnight Sunday as an area of heavy snow will develop over parts of Northern Maine on Monday into Tuesday.

Temperatures over the Lower 48 will mostly be above normal for early March and well above normal (near or surpassing record highs) for parts of the Central Plains on Sunday. Areas from Western Kansas/Nebraska to the Corn Belt will see high temperatures into the 60s/70s until the cold front moves through in the afternoon/evening. The East will see milder temperatures on Sunday as surface high pressure moves offshore and southwesterly flow commences.
