National Weather Service Outlook for Friday, December 13th for Milwaukee, Chicago, Indianapolis and Michiana

National Weather Outlook

There is a chance for drizzle this evening. Road temperatures are a little cooler than air temperatures, so slick spots are possible on untreated surfaces. Expect dry weather Friday. Rain and snow will spread into southern Wisconsin late Friday afternoon into the evening and then transition to freezing drizzle overnight into Saturday morning. Amounts will be light. Another round of cold air is expected for the weekend.
As of December 9th, Lake Michigan remains near record water levels. The unusually high water levels will likely continue through Winter into next Spring.
Light snow is expected to develop over south central Wisconsin later this morning, likely becoming mixed with light rain or drizzle for a time over most of the area. The region from Reedsburg and the WI Dells to Montello, Berlin and Fond du Lac has the chance for receiving 1 to 2 inches of snowfall. The snowfall and possible light glazing on roadways may affect the afternoon commute home.
Across southern Wisconsin, about every 2 out of 3 years there is at least 1 inch of snow on the ground on December 25th across much of south central Wisconsin. The chance decreases to 50% or one out of every two years in far southeast Wisconsin. The graphic shows the historic probability of at least 1 inch of snow on the ground at 6 am CST on December 25. This is based on the 30 year normal climate statistics from the National Center for Environmental Prediction.
Milwaukee Live Radar

A light wintry mix of snow, rain, and freezing drizzle is possible Friday night and Saturday. Snow accumulation, if any should be limited to a small dusting. A storm system will then affect portions of the southern Great Lakes and Ohio River Valley on Monday. While most of the accumulating snow potential is expected to remain south of the area, any northward shift in the storm system will increase snow potential. Keep up to date on the latest forecast through the weekend.
Chicago Radar

Light rain, or mixed rain and snow, is possible tonight and Saturday. No accumulations expected.
Indianapolis Radar

Dry conditions today will give way to a low chance for rain, light snow, and freezing drizzle later tonight through Sunday morning. There is increasing confidence for accumulating snow Monday into Monday evening as low pressure tracks east-northeast through the Ohio River Valley. A mix with freezing rain and sleet will also be possible during this time if a stronger and farther north solution verifies, best chances being along and south of US 24.
