The last day of this bitter cold, Thursday, will likely start with some all-time record cold temperatures. Lows early Thursday morning will be in the -20s to -30s across the area. Some isolated readings of around -40° are possible west of the Fox Valley in Illinois. Winds will be diminished, so the wind chills will not be as low as this morning, however still to dangerous levels. The air temperatures themselves will be dangerous to spend time in if not dressed properly.
Yet another round of accumulating snow is likely Thursday PM, with probable impacts to the Thursday evening commute. The very cold temperatures during the snow will make road treatments less effective. Leave yourself extra travel time Thursday PM. Be prepared to encounter snow covered roads and slowed, possibly hazardous travel. Stay tuned for the latest forecast updates.
