Weather Update for Friday July 6, 2018.

National Weather Service

Finally and end to the craziness. For the past two days we started out with a 20% probability of rain to 100% with the highest downpour rate we have seen in several years. With a high amount of moisture in the atmosphere, and a low pressure area created the perfect storm situation. Crazy.

We are going to make up for it. Today will be an absolutely gorgeous day. Sunny with a high near 75, yes 75 in the Highland area, 72 near the lake and 79 the further inland you travel. A nice northeaster wind will help keep things comfortable speeding up to 15 mph and gusting up to 25 mph. A beach warning is in effect for most of the Illiana lakefront. So be careful if you get in the water.

Tonight will be some of the most comfortable sleeping weather we have had in a bit. The temperature will get down to 56 with a mild north northeastern breeze clocking in at 5-15 mph. A nice night for a fire out back.

Saturday, Wow, you could not dial up any better of a day. Sunny with a high of 79 with east southeast breeze going from 5-15 mph. Nice beach day.

Saturday night, more comfortable open up those windows type of sleeping weather. The skies will be clear and the temp will be around 60. This should make for some awesome camping weather if you aren’t one of those who expects a mint on your pillow in the morning with nice warm towels folded into the shapes of swans. Yea none of that happens in the places we camp.

Sunday it begins to heat back up again. After all it is summer right!? Sunny with a high of 85 in the Highland area, 81 near the lake and 87 inland.

So this is some of the best end of the July 4th vacation weather you can have. Most of the fireworks that were canceled do the natures fireworks intervening will be rescheduled for this weekend.

Have a great weekend folks. It will be a beaut!
