Areas of morning fog, dense in some locations, will give way to partly cloudy skies and breezy conditions this afternoon. Gusts to around 30 mph will be possible at times this afternoon and evening. A series of heavy-rain producing systems will impact the region early Monday though late Tuesday. Several inches of rain may fall in some areas through that time. Expect rises on area streams and rivers as a result and flooding appears possible. Precipitation should wind down late Tuesday night into early Wednesday with a brief break in the weather Thursday before more active conditions return late in the week into next weekend.
Oh Oh the National Weather Service used the “M” word. See below….. Get ready folks. Clear the drains and get the ark ready. Some area can see up to 3-4″ of rain. The air will be unseasonably warm and …….. this comes from the National Weather Service…..moist.
We know many of you get creeped out when you hear that word. We do as well. But then, we get creeped out with other words used to describe the same conditions, wet; soggy….. so excuse us.
An unseasonably warm and moist air mass will overspread the region early next week with several rounds of showers and thunderstorms expected. Through early Wednesday, expect area-wide precipitation totals of an inch or more with some locations possibly seeing 2 to 4 inches of rainfall. Heaviest rainfall is favored over far northern Illinois on Monday and will shift into east-central Illinois and northwest Indiana on Tuesday. Grounds are still frozen over much of the area and will result in rapid runoff. In addition, some areas in northern Illinois may still have snow on the ground and additional melting will compound runoff from heavy rainfall. Expect rises on area rivers and streams, and flooding will be a distinct possibility. Stay tuned to the latest forecasts for updates.
