Weekend Weather Update for Saturday, February 10, 2018 – More snow 1-3″ for Saturday and Sunday.

National Weather Service

An axis of snow will shift very slowly east across northern Illinois through mid-morning. Snowfall rates will briefly be around 1″ per hour, allowing for accumulation by 9-10 a.m. of around 3″ in some places, with isolated higher possible. The combination of the snow rates and low visibility will make for temporary hazardous travel. Along and south of I-80, there is a chance of freezing drizzle this morning besides some light snow. If this were to occur, untreated surfaces could become icy. This threat will diminish by noon.

We will cancel the CLC and HHHH advisories not due to the weather, but due to the fact that our friends who we refer to as the HHHH (Hostess Ho Ho Hoarders) have emptied the shelves in all the sections with the exception of the produce and meats section. Basically any section that contains foods that are high in carbs and sugars are a vast wastelands. Please check with your favorite grocers before you visit.

This one day foodaganza was unlike anything we have ever seen. Really folks!? This storm impacted our travel for maybe 12 hours. At most were were due to receive a grand total of 14″ for all three days including the forecast for this weekend. Do you really have that much space in your kitchen? Where is the polebarn you are storing this stuff in?  How much of that food will perish before you use it? Some of us clearly do not recall the story about the starving children in Africa when we refused to eat those awful, four flushing, two timing, chicken liver eating canned peas. Seriously, are we the only ones who thought that those little green balls of sand were the most horrid thing on our plates! What were we talking about? Oh yea… we digress. So this may call for a new advisory GW (Grocery Wasteland).
