Winter Storm Warning – Thursday Evening to Friday

Thursdayfeb8week

The active winter weather pattern will continue through the upcoming weekend. In addition to the heavy snow expected Thursday night and Friday, we are monitoring the potential for accumulating snow on Saturday. Stay tuned to the updates on this snowfall as the weekend approaches.

A Winter Storm Watch is in effect for Thursday evening through Friday for counties along and north of Interstate 80. The heaviest snows will be across northern Illinois where 6-10 inches will be possible. There could be locally higher amounts of snow in that area. The snow will begin Thursday evening and continue through much of Friday before ending Friday evening. South of Interstate 80, snowfall amounts will taper off sharply. Friday morning and evening commutes could be impacted with this snowfall event, so slow down and allow extra time. Monitor latest forecast updates and consider postponing or altering travel plans.

Sometimes we wonder why we even bother advising you to take more time getting to and from wherever you are coming from or going. Seriously… we believe these times are a call out for bumper car games. So we will say…. Do whatever you do! Peace!

By the way, for those of you grimacing about the snow, we are still behind the average for snowfall for this time of year by at least 9-10″. We have quite a bit of catching up to do. Just sayin cupcake!

Due to the impending snow, we are seeing increased CLC (Checkout Line Congestion) throughout  the Chicago Area and Region. There have been increased numbers of HHHH (Hostess Ho Ho Hoarders) seen converging on grocery stores.

CLC and HHHH Safety Tips Remember the safety rules, no eye contact and keep all sweets and potato chips in a hard to reach place in your shopping basket. If they strike up a conversation while in line, just agree with everything by smiling and nodding your head occasionally . At all cost avoid politics! Be safe!

The lack of snow over northern IL thus far this winter has been noteworthy, but that could be about to change. A parade of storm systems over the Pacific will ride the jet stream into the northern and eastern U.S. this weekend into next week. These systems will be fast on each other’s heels, with only about a 24 to 36 hour break in between systems. It is too soon to say how many of these systems will directly impact northern IL and northwest IN, but there does appear to be multiple opportunities for snow this weekend through next week.
