Monday1

Bitterly cold weather will remain with us through the first several days of 2018. New Year’s Day will feature the coldest wind chills of this stretch. Daily record cold temperatures for Jan 1 will be threatened at Chicago, Rockford and Northwest Indiana. Avoid spending prolonged time outdoors if possible, but if having to go outside…dress in layers, hat and gloves, and cover exposed skin to avoid frostbite. Bring pets indoors. If you accidentally lock yourself out of the house, make sure the pets are always in doors before you pull such a stupid moronic stunt.

Chicago – While cold now, even colder air is arriving for New Year’s Eve night into New Year’s Day. A Wind Chill Advisory is in effect for northeast Illinois and northwest Indiana including the Chicago area during that time. Here is a look at hourly forecast temperatures and wind chills.

Windchill
Wind chill is how the wind and cold feel on exposed skin. The colder the temperature and stronger the wind, the quicker frostbite could set in on exposed skin.
