(AP) The man accused of driving into a crowd protesting a white nationalist rally in Charlottesville faces a new charge of first-degree murder after a court hearing Thursday in which prosecutors presented surveillance video and other evidence against him.

Prosecutors announced at the start of a preliminary hearing for James Alex Fields that they were seeking to upgrade the second-degree murder charge he previously faced in the Aug. 12 collision in Charlottesville that left 32-year-old Heather Heyer dead and dozens injured. The judge agreed to that and ruled there is probable cause for all charges against Fields, including nine lesser felony counts, to proceed.

(AP)More women are accusing Dustin Hoffman of sexual misconduct, including an incident in which a playwright says the actor exposed himself to her in a New York hotel room when she was 16-years-old.

Playwright Cori Thomas described the 1980 incident in a story published Thursday by the trade outlet Variety. She confirmed the story in an email to The Associated Press.

Office relationships that might have flown under the radar — particularly those between boss and subordinate — are getting a new look. And even those who might be looking to ask a co-worker on a date are thinking twice.

“People need to think hard before they enter into a workplace romance,” said Pennell Locey, a human resources expert at consulting firm Keystone Associates, who knows how complicated love can get in the workplace: She married a co-worker.

Board President Doug Ward, while reluctant to accept her resignation, said, “You are leaving for one of the best reasons.”

(NWI Times)A plea of not guilty was entered Thursday afternoon on behalf of a 55-year-old Lake Eliza woman accused of shooting and killing the man she had been living with for six years.

Karen Sons is charged with murder in the Dec. 8 shooting death of 54-year-old Robert Head at the couple’s home on California Avenue in the Lake Eliza area.

Kirsch announced that 46 year old Anastacia Vann Maclin of Merrillville was convicted of embezzlement and theft from the Indiana Medicaid program, after a two-day jury trial before District Court Judge Philip P. Simon. Kirsch says evidence in the case shows that Maclin began working for a physician in East Chicago in January 2015. In April 2015, Maclin began diverting medicaid payments from her employer to a bank account “that only she knew about and controlled” according to the statement. US Attorney Kirsch stated that the fraud continued through July 2016 and $30,000 was diverted to the account. “Maclin also applied for, received and diverted a 2015 bonus payment of more than $20,000 Indiana Medicaid was paying physicians for using electronic medical records by falsely representing the claim was being submitted by and for her employer.”
