Sheriff Oscar Martinez says that the increase in drug deaths in Lake County is alarming. “In Lake County as of Friday December 01, 2017, there have been 141 confirmed deaths related to drug overdose this year. Heroin was responsible for 33 with 13 of those mixed with fentanyl, Straight Fentanyl claimed 43 lives, cocaine 9, and 56 lives lost through a mixture of all other controlled substance. In all of 2016 there were 114 lives lost due to this drug epidemic, so the increase in deaths is alarming” Sheriff Martinez stated.
